Day 5: Alamogordo to Tucson

Another early start, attempting to beat the heat of the afternoon.  First stop was to see Curt's land that he owns near Deming, New Mexico.  This could be his future retirement home!!  We followed the back road until we came to the vicinity.  Here's where we had to stop:

There was nothing much to see.  Here's a shot of Curt looking over his future home:

It was heating up pretty fast, so we put the 103 cubic inch engines to work.  Speed limit out here is 75, so we set the cruise for 80.  A Harley-Davidson really smooths out around that speed, 3,000 RPM.  We pulled into the famous Hotel Congress in Tucson, where Curt will stay.  Kristin was there waiting for us, and got a picture of us pulling into the lot.

It was so nice seeing my Peanut!!

Downday tomorrow.  We will be riding on 4 wheels all day tomorrow, giving the bikes and our butts a rest.  Then on to Las Vegas.

I got a note from David, the organizer for the California portion of the ride.  He said he'd gotten word that the other bikes had all arrived in Vegas, and they're ready for them to pick them up on Friday.  The boys and girls will be flying in on Thursday, and Curt and I will meet them that evening.

  1. Looks like a good time in Tucson. Kristin is in a great house and I love how the master bedroom has become the closet! Too bad about the house in Clovis. It was a great first home and the last time I saw it the globe willows we had planted as saplings were full grown and producing lots of shade. The ride from Tucson isn't a long one, but I'm sure it will be a hot day...start early!
