Amarillo to Alamogordo

A few quick facts are in order-
Harleys Touring bikes are heavy
Touring bikes are Not dirt bikes
There is no way to get to the monument Mike wanted to visit without going on dirt roads
Parts of the roads were mucky mud from recent rains and run off from irrigation

So we had an exciting portion of the trip. We had to stop and contemplate our chances of success for one muddy section but then went for it. Backed up the bike, got up to a nice speed in second, closed my eyes and drove on through using the rut as a guide. In the picture you can see Mike going through. Turns out there was a quicker drier dirt road but our GPS didnt choose it for some reason.

I will let Mike talk about the monument since his father helped build it.

We also stopped in Roswell to see the alien the Air Force is hiding, but we didn't get to see it. I think you had to pay $5 or something.

On the way we saw one of the biggest feed lots I have ever seen. Cows as far as you can see.

Getting warm now with temps getting close to 100. Will stay that way as we head in to Tucson tomorrow.

Rut we had to negotiate in dirt road

Mike coming through mud - after I made the rut a little wider : )

Monument at former POW camp Mike's father helped to build

Huge feed lot

Roswell UFO museum. Pretty sure there is still an alien around here somewhere unless it was moved to Area 51 as is rumored.
