Day 2: Nice Ride from Cape Girardeau to Tulsa

Today's ride started off quite cool... mid 40's!!  The Harley-Davidsons love it!  Their air cooled engines run very smoothly and efficiently with all that cool air passing through them.  By the end of the day, temps had increased some 50 degrees.....90's by the time we got to Tulsa.  But, the majority of the day was very pleasant..only the last hour or so did we begin to feel uncomfortable.  And, even that could have been avoided, had we not stumbled onto a winery while looking for a gas station near Tulsa.

It is called "Summerside Winery".  Nice place with friendly people.

Curt, standing in front of the winery, with my finger in front of the lens.

When we pulled up, there were a bunch of other bikers who were already there.  Here's a pic of our bikes parked at the winery.  Bikes are my favorite subject for pics.  :)

We found a cheap hotel to crash at, which was conveniently located a block or two from a fine eatery named "Whottaburger," or something like that.  Some great food and elite clientele who frequent the place.  But, probably the best part about this hotel is that it has a fantastic night life!  A huge nightclub,  "Bobbisox," with some of the finest music you'll ever want to hear...even if you don't want to hear it.  It must be right below my room, as I can feel the "thump thump" of the amplified bass in my bed.  That I'm getting used to it is not as concerning as that I think I'm beginning to enjoy it.

Here are the bikes, all put to bed for the night, right in front of the entrance to Bobbisox:

We're getting an early start tomorrow morning, as it's supposed to be a very hot day.  Hopefully, we can be on the road by 6:30, and to the Best Western by 3pm.

We sure miss Kevin!  He had an unexpected death to a close friend, so was called to a higher order than this ride.  My best wishes to him, and his friend's family.

Mike
