We started this blog in 2011 with our cross-country retirement ride on Rt. 50. Since then, we've been documenting our adventures on our bikes.

Ride to Amarillo
Dodged a bullet today just missing a large thunderstorm in Tulsa. Left around 6:30 AM to avoid the heat and got to Amarillo in the early afternoon. Stopped by Lucille's on the way, but the old famous one on Rt 66 in Hydro appears to be moved to a new spot. I understand Lucille actually passed away. Have to go back and study my Rt 66 books.
Stopped at the Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo. A little artwork by a local eccentric and now everyone who stops here (other than us who were not prepared) brings spray paint to add another layer. Paint is about 1" thick all over the cars. Good thing otherwise the rust would have collapsed them long ago.
Getting hot with temps supposed to get to 90s today, 100 tommorrow. Our plan is leave early, stop early. Bikes are running well. Passing a lot of bikes going the other way- maybe to Laconia Bike Week? Talk to folks at most stops- everyone loves the idea of riding cross country on a bike- Just Do It
